Girl Gang
Motherhood is one big girl gang. Let’s share in it together.
Meditations
While I write these meditations with the Body Well program for Fit4Mom in mind, they are applicable to what every mother is going through in real time. I hope you have a village like the one I am lucky enough to be a part of.
100 wOMEN WHO CARE YOLO COUNTY
A friend of mine last year told me about 100 Women Who Care Yolo County and I was intrigued. The title alone sparked my interest because I am raising 3 little women of my own and I firmly believe if women were given the opportunity, we could solve all the world’s problems in less than an hour.
100 Women Who Care Yolo County is a chapter of a larger organization, 100 People Who Care Alliance, founded by Karen Dunigan. Ms. Dunigan heard about a need for portable cribs for new mothers who couldn’t afford them and were forced to place their newborns in boxes and drawers; tragically some babies were not able to survive the night. She knew she could write one check and make a small difference, but decided to gather 100 people together to write 100 checks to make a big different.
Creating the motto: We are each strong in our own right, but together we are stronger.
This has stuck with me. I have the ability to send money to a charity to give back and for that I am fortunate. But what a powerful idea to be able to participate in the journey of where your support will go. Often times we sit behind a computer and send money and never see its impact. Here, the non-profit will return and present just how $10K+ served our community.
It’s simple. It’s effective. It’s powerful:
Meet. Learn. Vote. Give. Repeat.
We meet quarterly.
We hear brief presentations from 3 local nonprofits.
We select a local nonprofit.
We each donate $100 to that nonprofit.
100 women x $100 x 1 hour = $10K Local Impact
There is a yearly commitment of $400, your attendance is not required, however you will not be able to cast a vote.
