Up From Here

It’s so easy to feel down these day.

The devastation goes on and on.

We could list the ways, but you’ve heard them. More importantly, you’ve lived them.

When we step on the elevator, our fingers natural gravitate to go lower. The ride down itself, feels so familiar, wallowing has become what feels normal.

But stop. What if we stop?

Let’s go up.

We have the ability to rewire our brains with gratitude. Afterall it’s all about perspective. This time last year we would have thrown our heads back and groaned at the idea that it’s: too early, it’s too cold, working out is too hard.

Today, we wouldn’t dream of saying anything of those things. We could cry tears of joy, just that we are standing near one another.

Everyone in this circle has reason to be thankful. We are here, we are together—the alignment of the stars that had to come into place, at this point, is nothing short of a miracle. So, if that’s all we have today, that, is more than enough.

We have to see darkness at the bottom, to know the light comes from up above.
