Slow Down

Ok but seriously, where does the time go? We are sitting here scratching our head wondering. Before we became mothers, we never had a visual representation of time passing. Now our wonderful little babies in just a few months go from crawling to walking to climbing and inevitability falling off the couch. Or our 5-year-olds are whispering with friends when yesterday you were the only one who could translate their whispers. Our preteen seeking independence through challenging the boundaries--how close to the edge can they walk without falling off?

Everyone everywhere is telling us to “enjoy this time”, “be present”—well we are currently enjoying being presented with everything all at once, all the time.

And at warped speed.

We have no control of how fast or how slow it all goes. So let’s do something we can control.

Breathe.

Right here.

Fill your lungs with the outside air. Appreciate that this is just a quiet minute in your day and come back to this quiet in your mind whenever you want. Come back to your breath when you need that too. It is available to us if we choose to take it. Time will continue at its own speed, at its own pace and while you can’t tell it to stop, you can pause and take what you need from the moment.
