The Body We Are In
The body we are in is truly something miraculous to behold and not something that should be treated as a never-ending construction zone.
Imagine for a moment if we practiced radical self-acceptance.
So quick are we to turn away a complement about our physical appearance, perhaps to remain humble, but also maybe because we don’t see what they see. But we should. Imagine if someone complimented your child on her fun hair style and she turned around and said,
“I’m just trying to not look so tired.”
Ridiculous right? Instead her whole face is likely to light up and she’d spend the rest of the day basking in the confidence we help build in them everyday.
The next time you receive kinds words, accept them with grace and hear them. I mean truly hear them. Internalize their warmth and then keep it inside you.
And then pass it on.
