The Importance of Showing Up

Every morning we get out of bed, we make a conscious effort to show up for our family. We are the hunters of lost socks and the gatherers of kids into minivans.

We show up for doctor visits, Music Together classes, and orchestra concerts, when everyone knows it takes at least 10 years of practice for anyone to make the violin sound good. Our children need us for everything, and the secret we keep as mothers, is that we need them for everything too.

We are there for our partners. Moral support, an ear to listen when they need us. A back rub that possibly leads to more children.

Us here now, together, is how we show up for ourselves. We put in the effort and make process. We come and put our bodies to work. No change, however small, is possible unless we show up here. We show up here because it matters, so we can show up for them for what matters most.
