Week 4 Recap
We open this episode with a bunch of pampered women trying to get excited about “traveling the world” starting with Cleveland, Ohio. Victoria F. gets the first one-on-one and Peter takes them flying, because that’s not getting old at all, and then they go to an amusement park. Peter surprises Victoria with a country concert with none other her secret ex-boyfriend, Chase Rice. She remarks how awkward it is to dance and make-out in front of her ex, and yet Peter does this regularly with any one of his current 20 girlfriends. Chase Rice was interviewed recently and was heated that the show used him as a pawn for their drama, when all he wanted to do was promote his new song. First of all, Mr. Rice, have you ever watched the show--they find a way to make champagne dramatic. Secondly, singing live didn’t exactly sound like your specialty. Yikes.
The look on Peter’s face when he realizes Victoria dated Chase was similar to if someone had just handed him a puppy with terminal cancer. It is clear to everyone other than Peter that Victoria is just continuing her fame-seek-tour and The Bachelor is the perfect tour bus…that unfortunately makes stops in places like Cleveland.
Alayah returns to ruin the football group date and snag the group date rose that she technically wasn't even invited to. It remains annoyingly unclear as to whether or not Victoria P. and Alayah were pageant-queen-besties before the show and which one of them is a pretty little liar.
The last one-on-one is with Kelsey and they do their best to boost Ohio’s tourism trade by saying things like, “it’s surprisingly nice”, when she would obviously rather be in Europe. With a face full of make-up, and a sob story about her parent’s divorce, Kelsey is so amazed that someone could really see her for her. They cry together and watch fireworks, so the pyrotechnic guy The Bachelor has retainer can continue to pay for Tesla’s for every member of his entire family.
Back at the house Alayah is given a tepid greeting from the other women. She is back in the real world just long enough to discover and spread the gossip that Victoria F. dated a country star, but not long enough for a forehead zit from the last rose ceremony to clear up. Victoria uses this smear campaign as an opportunity to expose Alayah and Peter’s face flashes back to the poor dying puppy. The D-list women from the group date call Peter out for disrespecting them and instead of a rose ceremony to end the episode, we get a disingenuous apology and a reminder that he isn’t perfect. Between the obvious lingering feelings for Hannah B., wishy-washy decision making at rose ceremonies, and looking nothing like Tyler Cameron, absolutely no one was accusing you of perfection, Peter.
